JUNIOR SPANISH:
AN INTRODUCTION
Courses for complete beginners, as well as continuing learners
The growing awareness in Hong Kong of Spanish as a world language means that it is increasingly being offered as a subject to be taken at school. Almost all international schools in Hong Kong - and a growing number of local schools - are offering it as a language option for examination at DSE, IB and I/GCSE.
Our Spanish courses are offered at various levels: for complete beginners, as well as for those already able to communicate in the language and wishing to improve. Depending on level, lessons are taught either in Spanish supplemented with a little English, or entirely in Spanish.
GENERAL SPANISH COURSE
A comprehensive, all-skills course for juniors
Course Aim: To build a solid foundation in Spanish, and to develop students' ability to communicate effectively in the language, both orally and in writing.
Suitable for: Students aged 5 and over
Course Description: This course develops all four language skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing - in Spanish. Vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar are taught and practised through a variety of fun, engaging and age/level-appropriate excercises and activities.
SPANISH ACTIVITY GROUP
A special activity-based Spanish course for very young learners
Course Aim: To stimulate a positive interest amongst young children in Spanish as a medium of communication.
Suitable for: Students aged approx. 3 – 6 (K1 – K3)
Course Description: Students are immersed in a fully Spanish speaking environment. They are encouraged to join in the fun - exploring objects and ideas through games, songs pictures and other visual aids. ¿Estan listos? ¡Empecemos!
SPANISH EXAM PREPARATION
Courses for all the major junior Spanish exams
Course Aim: To prepare students for specific public or international Spanish exams.
Suitable for: Juniors who will be taking a recognised public or international Spanish exam, eg: I/GCSE, AS/AL, DSE, IB, SIELE, DELE etc
Course Description: Each course (specific to the exam selected) focuses on developing the four language skills (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) in the context of the relevant exam format. Lessons follow a cycle of language teaching, exam practice and review. Mock exams, under exam conditions, can be arranged separately.

Meeting the challenge of learning Spanish in Hong Kong
As noted in the introduction above, Spanish is becoming an increasingly popular choice for parents and students alike. However, unlike Chinese and English, for many students in Hong Kong Spanish will remain a foreign language to be learnt, rather than a core second language to be mastered.
This, together with the relative lack of opportunity to hear, read and use Spanish daily in Hong Kong, means that additional measures are needed to help students make good progress in their learning journey. Our teachers ensure that your child is provided with the additional support and opportunity needed for them to make that progress.
