JUNIOR CHINESE:
AN INTRODUCTION
Chinese Courses for Kids and Teens

These courses fall into one of two categories: courses for Cantonese speakers, and courses for non-native speaker children and teens

And by focusing on the planning and organising of text, students will learn to better present and communicate their ideas in written Chinese.

CHINESE EXAM PREPARATION
From KPCC to DSE Chinese: exam-focused courses for Hong Kong Juniors
Course Aim: Accurately break through the exam key points and help students achieve good score
Suitable for: 3-18 years old (Cantonese speakers)
Course Description: In primary school, we focus on picture writing and short text reading to train logical organization and answer questions in a standardized manner. In the middle school stage, students mainly use DSE classical Chinese to deconstruct classic texts (such as "Yueyang Tower"), summarize the usage of function words and the skills of main idea inference. Analyze data integration and contextual awareness to break the test pressure of "solve long problems in a short time". The reading section of the exam skills training teaches the "speed reading positioning method" to quickly identify key words in the exam questions (such as "main idea" and "metaphorical meaning"). The writing section provides argumentative essay templates (introduction - pros and cons - conclusion), along with a library of social hotspot case studies (such as science and technology ethics, cultural heritage).
CHINESE AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Chinese courses for non-native speaker kids & teens
When learning Chinese - whether written or spoken - junior students whose mother tongue is not Cantonese will likely have very different needs from those of local Cantonese-speaking juniors.
Non-native speaker junior students enrolled in local schools may require remedial or catch-up Chinese. However, those studying at an international school will likely be learning Modern Standard Chinese, ie Chinese as a Foreign Language (Putonghua / Mandarin, with simplified rather than traditional characters).
