English for work, for leisure or to support the kids

Our small-group classes are ideal for taking your English up to the next level: lessons are held in a relaxed atmosphere where our native English teachers can focus on your individual strengths and weaknesses, and where you have the opportunity to practise using the language you are learning with your teacher in every lesson.

We have a variety of small-group courses to choose from, and these will meet the needs of most students. However, if you have some specific requirements, or would like to form your own mini-group with your friends or colleagues, please ask us about our private 1-to-1 and private closed group classes.

GENERAL ENGLISH COURSE

Our flagship, all-skills English course for Adults

Course Aim:  To build a solid foundation in English, and strengthen students' power of expression - both spoken and written.

Suitable for:  Adults (18+) of all levels, from complete Beginner to very Advanced

​

Course Description:  This course will develop your ability to communicate more effectively in both spoken and written English. New language patterns and vocabulary are taught and practised in conversation, and then reinforced through group and individual written tasks.

ENGLISH EXAM PREPARATION

Preparing Adults for benchmark English exams

Course Aim:  To ensure that students achieve their best possible result in their chosen English examination.

Suitable for:  Post-secondary and other adult students intending to take an internationally-recognised benchmark English exam.

​

Course Description:  The course is offered in different streams, depending on the intended exam (eg IELTS, Cambridge KET / PET / FCE etc.  Each course focuses on three main areas:  (i) overall improvement in all four English skils (ie Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing);  (ii) exam-specific language improvement to meet the requirements of the exam syllabus;  and (iii) authentic exam practice. 

BETTER SPOKEN ENGLISH

Conversation-based course to develop speaking skills

Course Aim:  To build confidence, accuracy and fluency in spoken English.

Suitable for:  Adults (18+), from post-Beginner to Advanced level, who would like to be able to express themselves better in English, whether at work or in their daily lives.

​

Course Description:  The focus is on developing fluency skills through a series of topic-based discussions and activities, including presentations, interviews, commentaries etc.  A fully immersive English language classroom environment, together with the guidance of a friendly and supportive native speaking teacher, serve to build confidence.  And a focus on vocabulary acquisition ensures increasing power of expression at all levels of the course.

CORPORATE ENGLISH TRAINING

Tailor-made, closed group English skills for the workplace

For many companies and organisations, employing staff who are able to speak a certain level of English is not just useful, it is essential.  And where employees do need to use English - whether written, spoken or both - it is important that their English ability is of a standard which will enable them to do their jobs effectively.

Here at Oxford Oriental we are well aware of the many difficulties employees frequently face when communicating in English with overseas visitors, partners and clients: after all, we have been teaching English for Work courses - both individual students and closed group corporate courses - for 30 years!
